Almost 80 volunteers came together on Wednesday 11 May to celebrate National Volunteers Week with a high tea at Bellingen’s Cedar Bar and Kitchen.
National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of men and women in our community who serve tirelessly day in and day out for others in our community.
Representatives from a range of groups mixed and shared stories, including many of the Council management committees that look after the Shire’s community halls and sporting fields. Light musical entertainment was provided by local Bellingen High School students, Finn Lawson-John and Rosabella Stephens.
Bellingen Shire Mayor, Cr Dominic King presented certificates to a number of long standing volunteers who had given over 10 years of committee membership or service. “I acknowledge that there are many more volunteers in our community than are here today and in many instances our volunteers take on many roles and assist a number of organisations. The number of hours and the level of energy that these volunteers invest into our community is admirable and it is my pleasure to thank them for freely give their time to making our Shire the wonderful place it is”, added the Mayor.
Volunteers from the following organisations attended the function.
