With the current heavy rain being experienced it is a timely reminder to know where to access the official information on road and bridge closures through the Bellingen and neighbouring Shires.
While Facebook and social media are a great way to find out news from nearby residents it is Council’s Operations staff who inspect the road network and determine what type of traffic management is required including cautionary signage, traffic control or road and bridge closure.
This information is then loaded onto the MyRoad Info site which can be located at http://midnorthcoast.myroadinfo.com.au. Information for neighbouring Councils of Coffs Harbour, Nambucca, Midcoast and Port Macquarie is also available on the site to assist motorists travelling to other locations.
For those travelling on our major roads such as highways the RMS provides up to date information on these roads. This information can be found on www.livetraffic.com. This information is also published on MyRoad Info.
Links to both of these web sites are available on the Councils website at www.bellingen.nsw.gov.au
