Council passes first Milestone! In the attached photo image, Wayne Wescott, Chief Executive Officer, ICLEI Oceania and Beth Riordan, Director, Community Partnerships Team within the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts are seen presenting Bellingen Shire Council General Manager, Mike Colreavy with an ICLEI Award for reaching the first of five Milestones under the cities for Climate Protection Program. The five milestones require the Council to do the following: Milestone 1 – Establishing a detailed base year emissions inventory and forecasting future emissions growth. Milestone 2 – Working with the community to establish and emissions reduction goal Milestone 3 – Developing and adopting a comprehensive local action plan Milestone 4 – Implementation of local action plan Milestone 5 – Monitoring and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions levels and implementation of actions CCP Plus – Advanced greenhouse reduction initiatives (ICLEI: International Cities for Local Environmental Initiatives)Contact details |
