Council is looking to empower local makers, creatives and artisans by providing a collaborative ‘Pop Up’ retail space in the old Visitor Information Centre (VIC) on Giinagay Way in Urunga. The pilot for the Pop Up will initially run from mid-December through to mid-January.

We are looking for local artisans and creatives who have locally made product/s to sell.  We are looking for product that is locally made in the Bellingen Shire, is niche and preferably an artisan or creative that needs a leg up to get their products in front of an audience (not a business that has an existing retail space). The Pop Up is about engaging and empowering local creatives and artisans by providing a collaborative retail space.

In order for the Pop Up to be viable, a minimum number of retailers will be required.

“A pop-up creative retail space is ideal because it gives exposure to local artists, supports the Creative Industries, and promotes a key part of our community’s vision to ensure we continue to promote and encourage our creative communities including craftspeople, writers, and musicians.” Said Bellingen Shire Mayor, Cr Steve Allan.

An information night will be held at the Urunga VIC on Tuesday 1 November from 5.30pm. Anyone interested should attend where possible to understand what the Pop Up is about and what the requirements will be. Find out more about this initiative here.
