Small businesses can now take advantage of a new digital diagnostic tool that has been developed for the Australian Small Business Advisory Service to help business owners understand the changing environment and identify gaps and opportunities to grow their enterprise.
The assessment tool takes a business owner through a series of questions from which priorities are identified. This information is then used to design a quality action plan that highlights areas in addressing future business needs.
The Australian Small Business Advisory Service is an initiative of the Federal Government to support and empower small business in the rapidly growing digital economy. The program is operated on the Mid North Coast, Northern NSW and New England areas through the Northern Region Business Enterprise Centre (NRBEC).
Chief Executive Officer of the NRBEC, Graham Baxter, said that the advisory service is a win-win for small business as it offers a fully subsidised introductory consultation followed by low cost ($25 per session) ongoing support.
“An Australian study last year by Deloitte showed that digitally savvy businesses were 50% more likely to be showing growth,” said Mr Baxter.
“The advisory service covers all aspects of digital fitness from growing your online business profile, assessing website and software needs, social media and digital marketing, through to online sales and cyber security.”
Mr Baxter said that in most of our local areas small businesses make up around 95% of the overall business community. “We have three accredited business advisors on the ground who will be out in these community approaching small businesses and talking about the service.”
Mr Baxter said the advisors are available to meet with business owners on a one on one basis, or to speak at business meetings, chamber of commerce or networking functions. The team will also be running workshops across the various regions to launch the new diagnostic tool.
