Situated alongside the children’s playground and BBQ picnic shelter, the 6-piece exercise trail is movable and interactive, with cardio workout and resistance training features such as rowing machines, cycle seat and cross trainer.
The equipment was installed by Council with the support of the NSW Office of Communities – Sport & Recreation with the objective of providing facilities to support the health and wellbeing of our community.
Suitable for teenagers through to seniors, the equipment will provide a cost free facility for those looking for a new and innovative way to exercise. The 6 piece set is Stage 1 at Connell Park, with additional pieces of equipment planned for installation in 2014.
Mayor of Bellingen, Cr Mark Troy said, “Leading an active lifestyle is important no matter what your age or fitness ability, and the new equipment is part of Council’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles for all members of the community. A similar open space fitness centre in Coronation Park Dorrigo has proven very popular with the plateau residents,” Mark added.
