Grants and Funding

Funding Image

Like many small regional councils, Bellingen Shire is reliant on the successful application of grants to support or enable projects to happen. Information contained in this webpage is to provide the community with a current list of projects where Council has or is about to make an application to a funding body. Where possible, additional information will be provided regarding each application, e.g. plans, concept designs.

The web page will continue to develop over the coming weeks and eventually provide other information such as current funding opportunities for our community.

Current Applications

Bellingen Memorial Hall
The Bellingen Memorial Hall project will include improvements to the physical structure of the building. A recent structural assessment on this 1929 iconic, heritage listed building has identified a number of key improvements required to ensure the long-term sustainability of the structure. These improvements will also enable additional refurbishments to be undertaken making it 'fit for purpose' and ensuring the sustainability of the hall for the long-term.

Mylestom Pathway, Platform and Surf Club
The Mylestom area is a popular area for walkers, cyclists, beach goers, surfers, tourists and the general community. The installation of a new path and viewing platform as well as an upgrade to the North Beach Surf Club will enable and encourage additional recreational nature-based activities and provide more inclusive infrastructure to support those with accessibility issues, prams and mobility aids.

Dorrigo Tennis Court
The Dorrigo Tennis Club is a vital sporting facility that offers tennis, recreational exercise classes, social interactions for seniors and other members of the community as well as recreational options for tourists staying in the local area. The project will see vital improvements made to the grounds to stabilise the existing courts and improve the lighting for users.

Dorrigo to Dangar Falls Shared Pathway (Stage 1)
The Dorrigo to Dangar Falls Pathway project Stage 1 will see the installation of a new shared pathway from the centre of the Dorrigo town towards the very popular tourist destination and recreational reserve at Dangar Falls. The project will be undertaken in stages with Stage 1 works enabling the community and visitors to walk/ride from the centre of the Dorrigo township to Bielsdown Bridge. The project will increase amenity and provide safe and accessible pedestrian access improving the range of transport options to the community and visitors.

Urunga Boardwalk Stage 1 Upgrade
The Urunga Boardwalk Stage 1 Upgrade will see the replacement of the existing timber decking with approximately 385 lineal metres of Envirowalk fibreglass mesh. This will help to maintain and develop the recreational and tourism asset, optimise value to the community and ensure public safety is maintained.

Coronation Park Refurbishment project
The project provides new and improved infrastructure supporting the Dorrigo community and visitors with a safe, socially inclusive space. The project includes new accessible entry and improved paths, new accessible toilets, picnic shelter, playground equipment including a disability swing, safety fencing, a formalised parking area including a designated accessible parking space, landscaping and ground works. The project will redevelop an existing space to better support the community particularly regarding health, wellbeing, social inclusion and accessible facilities. The project site location, being in the main street in proximity to cafes, services and businesses, will support visitation and tourism to the area.

Urunga Inclusive Pathways project
The Urunga Inclusive Pathways project will see the installation of approximately 430 meters of new shared pathway and pedestrian bridge. The project will create safe and inclusive passage for the general community, visitors and tourists while increasing the livability and amenity of the area.
