Given the increased intensity and frequency of recent flooding and severe storm events in our region, our Shire’s road network has become more vulnerable to the impacts of these type of events, and there has been a significant increase in local road network defects.

Residents of Dorrigo – Impact to Waste Collection Services
Council wishes to advise residents in Dorrigo and surrounds that the scheduled bin collections for Tuesday 23 March will be postponed.
Due to the extreme weather event and resulting road closures waste collection vehicles are currently unable to access this area.
Update - Council Bridge Flood Camera Network
In response to enquiries received about Council's bridge flood camera network, please be advised the sites were installed to allow for 7 days of sunless weather, however with the prolonged overcast period we have experienced, the solar panels are unable to sufficiently charge the system at this time.
Community Update - Stay Home & Stay Safe - 4pm 22 March 2021 Waterfall Way closed to all traffic – Myers Bluff, Thora
Existing closures on Waterfall Way are extensive and Council staff continue to work with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to prepare for recovery works however, further geotechnical and environmental investigations need to occur which are currently restricted by heavy rainfall.
Bellingen's Lavenders Bridge Closure Notice
Bellingen Shire's Lavenders Bridge is currently closed due to flooding and Bellingen Shire Council staff will continue to monitor the status of Lavenders Bridge.

Due to the impacts of the adverse weather conditions and staff shortages, Council’s Customer Service Centre will be closed again today (Monday 22/3/21).

As significant rainfall continues, a watch and act brief remains in place for Council staff to continue to observe the potential impacts of the current weather system offshore on existing river levels and assess the need to effect bridge closures.

Council continues to work with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to assess the impacted sites on Waterfall Way to ensure recovery works can progress safely. In the meantime, Waterfall Way will remain closed to all traffic between Maynards Plains Road and Boggy Creek.
Bellingen Waste Transfer station open.
Bellingen shire council's Waste Transfer Station on Bowraville Rd has been reopened today.

Severe weather update 4pm 19 March 2021 Waterfall Way closed to all traffic – Myers Bluff, Thora
Two significant landslips occurred at Myers Bluff, Thora this morning. Notably, a council vehicle was struck by debris during the incident, and thankfully no one was injured.
