Development Application for Carl Foster Service Station Site in Bellingen to be Re-Advertised - Northern Regional Planning Panel Meeting to be Deferred

Development Application 2018/DA-0025 which proposes to redevelop the Carl Foster Service Station site in Bellingen with 15 Residential Units, and a Retail Premises, is to be re-advertised for public comment by Bellingen Shire Council.

Extension of Free Storm-Damaged Green Waste Disposal

To further assist residents and businesses across the Bellingen Shire, Council is extending its provision for free green waste disposal for storm-damaged waste to close of business Sunday 13th January 2019.

Green Waste:  Due to last night's storm damage council is offering free green waste diposal at both the Raleigh and Dorrigo Waste Management Facilities until close of business on Monday 24 December to assist with the storm clean up.

Newry Island Riverbank Restoration a Success

Bellingen Shire Council trial Dust Suppressant Treatment

Bellingen Shire Council has recently completed trialling a dust suppression treatment based on the Otta Seal concept on a 600m unsealed section of Summervilles Road Thora.  The site was selected due to the significant dust issues that occur periodically and the effects of the dust on driver safety and local horticultural activities.

Urunga Library to get a Facelift

Council is thrilled with the news that it has been successful in obtaining grant funding in the amount of $93,000 for the Urunga Library extension.

The Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey MP visited the Urunga Library to make the announcement on Wednesday 12 December that funds will be sourced from the NSW Regional Cultural Fund 2018.

Council’s Invasive Plants Officers are currently inspecting areas of the Dorrigo Plateau for the highly invasive toxic plant Red Cestrum (Cestrum elegans) following concerns from landholders.  Over the past 12 months Council has received reports of cattle dying suddenly following the ingestion of small amounts of the plant.
