What is a Master Plan?

A master plan is a strategic document outlining a long-term vision and implementation strategy for guiding growth and change in an area. The draft master plans for Bellingen, Dorrigo, and Urunga CBDs will influence the future appearance, atmosphere, and functionality of the town centres. It will address various factors, including land use, building density, public spaces, mobility, movement, sustainability, and heritage. The plan will guide the Bellingen Shire Council in establishing planning controls for future proposals and site-specific development plans.

Have your say - Draft CBD Master Plans

Bellingen Shire Council is inviting community feedback on draft CBD Master Plans for Bellingen, Dorrigo, and Urunga. The plans were developed through a collaborative process involving workshops, a survey and stakeholder meetings. The useful insights, lived experience and local knowledge has been invaluable to the master planning process and has shaped many key moves and recommendations to support the needs of each distinct CBD and to guide their futures.

Online Information Sessions

Online Information Sessions were facilitated by Cobalt Engagement with representatives from Bellingen Shire Council and urban design firm McGregor Coxall attending. The purpose of the sessions were to explain the Draft Master Plan and to prepare the community to write an informed submission. The sessions involved presenting the key recommendations of the Draft Master Plan and a Q&A. The recordings of these sessions have been made available below.

Highlights from the In-Person Workshops

Thank you for your participation! During the comprehensive community engagement program that informed the draft plans, we had over 150 people attend one of 8 workshops across two weeks. Our survey received 791 responses, which is a fantastic result!

The feedback collected from the workshops and survey was used to inform the development of the draft CBD master plans.
