Project Scope

The Australian and NSW governments are committed to providing ongoing support for communities impacted by severe weather and flood events.  Bellingen Shire Council received funding through the Community Assets Program for the replacement of five pedestrian bridges. Bielsdown River Footbridge Update

Work on the replacement of the Bielsdown River Footbridge started in October 2025 and was completed in March 2026.

The project involved replacement of the existing footbridge with a prefabricated truss bridge.

Through the integration of student-led artwork, the panels of the new bridge feature artwork that celebrates local identity, honours Gumbaynggirr culture, and gives young people a voice in shaping the place they live.
