Tree and vegetation management

Black booyong.jpg

Trees and vegetation on private property and public land provide significant benefits across the Shire. They provide shade, reduce the urban heat island effect, improve air quality, reduce run-off and erosion, support local wildlife, provide visual amenity, enhance local character and provide a sense of place.

The general approach to tree and vegetation management is that it should be retained and enhanced. Sometimes, however, it may be appropriate to remove a tree or other vegetation, for example, because it poses a safety risk or is classified as a weed. Depending on the location of the tree or vegetation a different process may need to be followed.
