Upgrade Underway for Dorrigo Waste Transfer Station
Published on 01 August 2025
Improvement works are underway at the Dorrigo waste transfer station, which include upgrades to the existing transfer station infrastructure and capping of the previously filled areas of the landfill cell. These works are expected to be completed at the end of September.
The upgrades to the transfer station includes the construction of two concrete slabs, a brick wall, some roadworks, and the installation of two additional hook bins for customers to unload their waste into when they use the facility.
Works are also underway to cap the previous, now full, landfill cell. These works will involve spreading around 800 tonnes of material over the landfill site, 'capping' the cell, which is the first stage of the remediation phase. There is a new active landfill cell in current use for residents.
The site works have been arranged so that waste services can be maintained. Some temporary changes have been made onsite for the construction works period, and short delays may occasionally occur due to the movement of vehicles and heavy machinery.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the facility.
