Bellingen Shire Council is thrilled to announce the recipients of the Community Grants and Environment Levy Community Program for Round 1 of the 2025/26 financial year. At the June Ordinary Council meeting, Council approved a total of $45,144 in grant funding across four categories: the Community Support Fund, Community Event Sponsorship Fund, Creative Placemaking Fund, and the Environment Levy Community Program.
Mayor Cr. Steve Allan expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, " It’s a very rewarding process to be part of. I’m really pleased to see such a broad spread of community groups represented across our Shire, both geographically and across diverse areas of interest. The Community Grants Program continues to attract a high number of strong applications, reflecting the community’s passion, creativity, and commitment. Many of the outcomes delivered through these programs are at the forefront of our Community Vision, driven by what our community tells us matters most.
With limited funding available and many high-quality proposals submitted, making final decisions is never easy. Unfortunately, some valuable projects do miss out in such a competitive round, but it’s incredibly encouraging to see such depth of engagement and initiative across the Shire.”
