Council has reopened the river at Mylestom to swimming which has been closed as a precautionary measure to ensure the health and safety of our community. Signs are currently being removed.

River quality has been monitored over the past few days and results remain below the recreational guidelines and are good. Council continues to work closely with the NSW Environment Protection Authority and NSW Health and will monitor the river over the coming days. Investigations into illegal dumping of fat which is understood to be the cause of this sewer main overflow are ongoing.

This is a timely reminder of just how important the protection of our waterways is.
