Project Update - October

BSC - Sewering Coastal Villages Project - November Update 160dpi.jpg

Bellingen Shire Council’s major sewer expansion project is progressing well across Raleigh, Yellow Rock, and Mylestom. The works include the construction of sewer rising mains and new pump stations, as well as the installation of 226 pressure sewer systems at residential and commercial properties. Once complete, these upgrades will provide modern, reliable wastewater services for the coastal communities.

Construction of the sewer rising mains along Giinagay Way, Yellow Rock Road, and the connection to Norco is now complete, with pressure testing at Raleigh currently underway to verify system performance and ensure network integrity.

Preparation is progressing at the Mylestom and Norco Sewer Pump Station sites with site fencing, offices, water and power connections, and delivery of construction equipment are now in progress.

Major upgrades are progressing at the existing Yellow Rock Sewer Pump Station to enable it to receive flows from Mylestom and Raleigh when both systems come online. Recent shutdown of the pump station was completed to allow for new switchboard to be installed.

The first pressure sewer units have also been installed in Raleigh, with six units and drainage upgrades completed out of 226. Over the next few weeks, contractors will be continuing the installation of pressure sewer units at domestic properties in Raleigh. The project will then move to Yellow Rock, and into Mylestom by the end of the year, with final completion of all properties expected before October 2026.
