Replacement of Public Amenities at Alma Doepel Reserve, Mylestom and Roses Reserve, Thora

The Bellingen Shire Council was successful with their applications under the NSW “Covid-19 Crown Land Manager Recovery Support Grant Program” and received funding to replace the existing public amenities at Alma Doepel Reserve, Mylestom and Roses Reserve, Thora.

The funding aims to support NSW communities’ recovery from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic through a range of asset improvements and support to encourage increased visitations to NSW Crown Reserves.

Alma Doepel Reserve, Mylestom

The replacement of the existing public amenities at Alma Doepel Reserve is expected to commence on 4 April 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The existing toilet block will be replaced with a pre-fabricated modular restroom building system consisting of three unisex ambulant and one accessible toilet compartments. The Reserve will also be upgraded with the provision of two new stainless steel cold water showers next to the amenities.

The amenities at Alma Doepel Reserve will be closed for approximately 4 weeks. Council requests that, during the construction period, members of the public use the amenities at the North Beach Surf Life Saving Club at the End of George Street.

Roses Reserve, Thora

The replacement of the existing public amenities at Roses Reserve as well as upgrades the access road and carpark next to the amenities has commenced.

The project is due to be completed by the end of June 2022 (weather dependent).

The existing toilet block will also be replaced with a similar pre-fabricated modular restroom building system consisting of two unisex ambulant and one accessible toilet compartments. A small carpark area for four vehicles, one being accessible, will be built next to the new amenities. An accessible concrete footpath to the toilet block will also be built from the carpark area.
