Council is pleased to have received confirmation that it retained the $11 million in funding from the State Government for the first phase of our Sewering Coastal Villages Project, giving the green light to move forward with the largest upgrade to our sewer system for our coastal communities. After a period of reassessment, Council is excited to commence the process of restarting the project with Phase 1 of the Sewering Coastal Villages Project, which includes Mylestom, Raleigh, Norco, and Cabins on Yellow Rock Rd, proceeding to the contracting and procurement stages of the project.

The Council has identified Repton and Raleigh Industrial Estate as part of Phase 2 of the Sewering Coastal Villages Project, with further funding being sought from State and Federal bodies to complete the original project scope and bring improved infrastructure to these areas.

The project aims to install sewer infrastructure along our coastal villages to treat wastewater to a high standard before being released into the environment.

The project will involve the installation of gravity mains, pump stations, and a treatment plant upgrade to provide sewerage services to the area. Some of the treated effluents will be utilised in the toilets of the new subdivisions in Urunga South to minimise the use of potable water and reduce environmental impacts.

As part of phase 1, Council will be rolling out a focused consultation program to engage with individual property owners in the specified areas. Information will continue to be made available on Council’s website where you can sign up to receive alerts as new updates become available.
