The Bowerhouse Presents a Series of Free Workshops

The Bowerhouse Community Reuse Shop is excited to present a new series of free workshops throughout Spring.

Delivered by MidWaste Regional Waste Group and Bellingen Shire Council, the workshops aim to encourage people in the community to repair and re-use, rather than throw away. A fun and practical range of topics are on offer, from furniture restoration to native bee hive making. 

Upcoming Workshops:   

Fix It Basics

Saturday 16September, 1pm to 3:30pm

If you would like to be handier around the home, come and learn the basics of fixing stuff. It will include information like how to decide between using screws, nails, rivets, various glues, liquid nails, silicone, as well as many other simple-to-master details for everyday repairs and upkeep.

Native Bee Hotel Making

Saturday 24September, 1:30pm to 3:30pm

Learn how to make your own Native Bee Hotel from recycled materials with Chelsea, a local bee expert.  Chelsea will share her comprehensive knowledge of all things apiary, including why bees are so important, how to identify different bees, and how to help them. Each participant will make a Native Bee Hotel they can then take home to install in their garden.

Furniture Restoration

Saturday 21October, 1pm to 3:30pm.

Do you have a few furniture projects lying around but not sure where to start?  Come along to this FREE workshop to learn how to give a new life to preloved furniture, for example an old wooden chair or garden bench.

Basic Plumbing

Saturday 4November, 1pm to 3:30pm.

With a dry Spring and Summer on the horizon, it is vitally important to save water and fix leaks.  Come and learn how to change tap washers and O-rings, deal with stiff garden taps, use plumber’s tape, and do simple gutter repairs and replacement.

The Bowerhouse Community Reuse Shop sells quality used, recycled and second-hand products that have been salvaged before going to landfill. The shop is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30am to 4pm.
