Water Resilience

Water use in our Shire is spread across a number of sectors, from farming and industry to small business owners.  In every organisation there are simple things that can be done to help save water, save money, and save the environment.

Water Efficiency Audits

Council is working with our water customers and local businesses to reduce their water consumption.  If you are interested in saving water and money, contact Council's Water Resilience Officer on 02) 6655 7300.  We may be able to assist with:

  • Conducting a simple Water Audit at your business premises.
  • Providing advice on Water Management Plans and Policies.
  • Assessing the need for a complex Water Audit (for example, for a large business that uses specialised operating equipment and infrastructure).

Smart Meter Reading

Council is in the process of rolling out smart meters in the Shire. This will allow businesses to monitor their water usage, and get alerts for things like leaks and high water use. The smart meter roll out is expected to take a number of years.

What exactly is a Smart Meter?

A smart meter is a device that automatically records water use, and has the ability to electronically report water usage information at regular intervals. It also provides instant access to data, and can highlight issues and trends to better inform how we manage the water network.
