Dorrigo Rotary Valentines Day Gala Ball

Applicant: Rotary Club of Dorrigo Inc

Fund: Community Event Sponsorship Fund 2025/26 - Round 1

Funding: $4,000

Over 70 people attended the Dorrigo Rotary Valentine’s Day Gala Ball held at the Dorrigo Community Hall on Valentine’s Day 2026. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal (entrée, main and dessert), with complimentary bubbles and punch on arrival, water on tables, and soft drinks available for purchase. The event was fully BYO alcohol. Entertainment was provided by Santa Taranta and recorded music, with dancing continuing throughout the evening. Fundraising activities included raffles and a live (loud) auction, supported by a strong volunteer effort.

The event successfully raised $7,300 for the Dorrigo United Hospital Auxiliary through ticket sales, raffles and auction items. Proceeds will go towards improving patient care at Dorrigo Hospital, including the purchase of a critical care bed and a multi-purpose electric lift and recline mobile shower commode, supporting comfort, dignity and safety for palliative and critical care patients. With the support of a grant, the cost of the band, sound and lighting was covered, allowing ticket prices to remain affordable. The event was delivered as a true community effort, with catering by committee members, student volunteers from Dorrigo High School, a local band, and all raffle and auction items donated by community members.

"The BSC Community Event Sponsorship Fund was an absolute lifeline for us to be able to achieve our goal of raising funds for the Dorrigo Hospital through the Dorrigo United Hospital Auxiliary. Hosting a Ball that was fun from start to finish - Dressing up and coming together to enjoy dance, music, food, company and a great cause, is pretty hard to beat."  Club Director, Rotary Club of Dorrigo
