The draft Incoming Sponsorship Policy is designed to establish a clear governance framework for the assessment, approval and management of incoming sponsorship arrangements with Bellingen Shire Council.

The draft Policy outlines that all sponsorship arrangements must align and be managed in accordance with the following principles:

  • Public benefit: Sponsorship must deliver a clear and demonstrable benefit to the Bellingen Shire community
  • Transparency: All sponsorship arrangements must be documented and approved in accordance with Council delegations.
  • Probity: Sponsorship must not influence, or appear to influence, Council decision-making or regulatory functions.
  • Accountability: All sponsorship arrangements must be recorded and reported.
  • Reputational Protection: Council will not enter sponsorship arrangements that may damage Council’s reputation or community trust.

Further to these guiding principles, the draft Policy dictates that all sponsorship arrangements:

  • Support Council programs, initiatives, services or assets that deliver community benefit
  • Are assessed in a transparent and ethical matter
  • Protect Council's strategic objectives and community values
  • Comply with relevant legislation and Council policies.
