At its April Ordinary Meeting, Council resoled to play the Draft Integrated Water Cycle Management Strategy on public exhibition. The community is invited to review and provide feedback on the draft strategy.

A Local Water Utilities Water and Sewerage Strategic Plan is a 30-year strategy for the provision of appropriate, affordable, cost-effective, and sustainable urban water services that meet community needs and protect public health and the environment.

The Strategy:
  • Identifies the water supply and sewerage needs of a local water utility
  • Right sizes’ any infrastructure projects and determines their priority
  • Identifies the lowest level of stable Typical Residential Bill (TRB) to meet the agreed levels of service
  • Includes a 30-year Total Asset Management Plan (TAMP) and Financial Plan
  • Identifies strategies to mitigate identified organisation risks such as drought, water quality, health-based targets, climate change and community expectations on levels of service.

The nominated growth and Levels of Service (LOS) targets are the key drivers that impact the development of the Total Asset Management Plan (TAMP). The 30-year financial plan determines the revenue requirements to support the TAMP and forecasts the Typical Residential Bill and the Developer Charge for the preferred strategy.

The process is iterative, an affordable level of service and TRB is determined through community and stakeholder consultation.
