As part of a proposed Creek Lane Upgrade Project, Council is seeking community input on a proposal to amend vehicle access along the lane way. The proposed project scope includes full pavement reconstruction, drainage upgrades, a new pedestrian footpath and a continuous pedestrian link between Hyde Street and Bellingen Park via the existing alleyway.
To support the inclusion of safe, dedicated pedestrian facilities, the design proposes one-way vehicle access for the western end of Creek Lane, connecting to Church Street. These proposed one-way changes are necessary to accommodate the pedestrian footpath and road pavement within the narrow corridor between Cemetary Creek and private property. It is proposed to maintain two-way access for the eastern section connecting to Ford Street.
These works will enhance access between the town centre and Bellingen Park, benefiting locals and visitors attending markets, community gatherings, and sporting events.
The project is currently in the design and consultation stage with funding and construction timing to be confirmed.
