The major landslip caused by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred severely damaged Johnsens Road, affecting a large section of the road and Surrounding area. A temporary access road has been constructed, allowing residents access around the slip, and are asked to slow down and proceed with caution when travelling through the affected area. Council is working with geotechnical experts and Transport for NSW to assess the damage and determine potential funding through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
The landslip damage is complex, and repairs may take an extended period.
Further structural analysis has been undertaken as part of the Detailed Design phase. It will help inform the design solution and support the development of a long-term repair strategy and full restoration of the road.

Access remains open. Council continues to closely monitor the sites during significant rainfall events to ensure public safety remains the priority.
Council undertook community engagement in March 2025 through the Johnsons Road Community Impact Survey to better understand local needs. This has been supported by ongoing direct engagement via the Johnsons Road email distribution list, ensuring affected residents are kept informed about Council’s works and the delivery of the road rehabilitation.
