Project Update - February

Following the Christmas break, Council’s project teams have returned to site in the Mylestom and Raleigh areas and are continuing to make strong progress on the Sewering Coastal Villages Project. These works represent a significant step toward providing a modern sewer service for the community and improving long-term environmental outcomes.

Pressure Sewer System

Installation of the sewer reticulation mains (the pipes laid along local streets) is now nearing completion across the project area. This milestone allows construction activities to continue progressing onto individual properties.

The project includes 226 property connections across the Mylestom and Raleigh areas. Progress to date includes:

  • 120 of 226 Pressure Sewer Units installed in backyards
  • 140 of 226 Property Side Lines constructed
  • 62 of 226 Controller Panels installed
  • 55 of 226 Electrical Upgrades Completed
  • 7 of 82 Consumer Main Upgrades

Works will continue progressively across the remaining properties, with residents contacted directly prior to construction on their property. Construction and property connections are expected to be completed by September 2026, with decommissioning of existing septic tanks to follow once properties are connected to the new system.

Pump stations

Construction of pump stations is also progressing steadily throughout the project area. These pump stations form a critical part of the new sewer network and will transfer wastewater to Council’s existing sewer system for treatment. All major pump station works are currently scheduled to be completed by April 2026.
