Bielsdown River Walk

The Bielsdown River Walk is an ongoing project to restore a stretch of riparian vegetation along the Bielsdown River in Dorrigo while creating a beautiful riverside walk for locals and visitors.

In 2025/26 Bellinger Landcare received a grant of $3,500 from Bellingen Shire Council’s Environment Levy Community Fund to continue restoration works along the river.

Grant funds were used on tools and equipment to continue weed control along the riparian zone as well as plants, tree guards and fertiliser for a Spring planting day. Volunteers also successfully propagated plants from seeds gathered from earlier plantings, increasing volunteer knowledge and the resilience of this site.

Overall, planting and maintenance at this site has been so successful that the Landcare group will be able to transition away from future plantings as the site has matured to a stage where it is able to regenerate naturally.
