Timeframe

Due to significant damage from Tropical Cyclone Alfred (AGRN 1198), the Mylestom Tidal Pool upgrade project is currently on hold pending further assessments and funding resolution with the NSW Government.

Project scope:

The project aims to address these risks with the following upgrades:

  • Complete re-decking of the Tidal Pool pathway to minimise trip hazards and to remove the risk of injuries from splinters or exposed screws.
  • Complete replacement of the damaged shark netting to ensure user safety.
  • Complete replacement of the failed stainless-steel bracings to ensure the structural stability.
  • The installation of recycled plastic bollards and railings to formalise the Reserve and parking areas, define borders, thereby preventing erosion, damage to vegetation, and unauthorised activities like wild camping and illegal fires.
  • Replacement of 5 damaged piles caused by Tropical Cyclone Alfred

Community Impacts

The work will require the full closure of the Mylestom Tidal Pool.
