New Council elected for Bellingen Shire

Bellingen Shire Council wishes to congratulate the following candidates for their successful election for the new term of Council:
In accordance with the Local Government Act 1993, Councillors (including Mayors) are required to take an oath or affirmation of office at or before the first meeting of Council after being elected.
This ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 9 October 2024, at 9:30am at Maam Gaduying (Meeting Place), 39 Hyde Street, Bellingen. The ceremony will feature a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, followed by the formal taking of the Oath of Office by the Mayor and Councillors.
The Bellingen Shire community are invited to attend this ceremony and connect with their local representatives as they begin this new term of Council. Council will host a morning tea following the Oath of Office formalities.
“On behalf of Bellingen Shire Council, I would like to congratulate the newly elected Councillors,” Bellingen Shire Council General Manager, Mark Griffioen said.
“We look forward to collaborating with this new group of Councillors as we strive towards our Community Vision 2035, ensuring the views and needs of our residents are at the forefront of everything we do.
“I would like to express our gratitude in advance for their dedication and service to our Shire, in what can be a demanding but also rewarding role.
“Additionally, we extend our thanks to the previous Councillors for their service during the last term, and we recognise this year's unsuccessful candidates for their nominations and commitment to civic service.”
